The caterpillars attached to the Cordyceps looked like the empty chrysilises of Emperor Gum moths (Opodiphthera eucalypti),which are flying about at present, found in the same site. These are the first I have found so very excited
Patppeffyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08951812134278316903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-772303329517936921.post-20309860044793090322010-07-11T12:00:33.582+10:002010-07-11T12:00:33.582+10:00Hello Denis,

I haven't found it anywhere in the Hunter Valley before, so I am not aware if it has a usual fruiting time. The rains have spurted on the fungi to send forth fruiting bodies everywhere. It really is a great opportunity to observe and photograph them.

Cheers,
GayeGayehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02899430268722758947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-772303329517936921.post-76485779317981627402010-07-11T10:52:21.137+10:002010-07-11T10:52:21.137+10:00Congratulations, Gaye.
